China: Chemical and microbiological food testing


In China, testing laboratories that perform product quality testing and certification require China Metrology Accreditation (CMA) in order to be recognised on the market. TÜV SÜD's testing laboratory in Qingdao now holds accreditation for the CMA mark for the chemical and microbiological testing of food products, including meat, seafood and animal feed.

Chemical testing for the CMA mark covers testing for residues of veterinary drugs and pesticides, additives, conventional physical and chemical testing and testing for heavy metals. In microbiological testing, the products are tested for microbes such as salmonella and for the total bacterial count. Responsible for CMA accreditation is Provincial Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau of China.
